Anyea Enhancing social cohesion of kom internally displaced persons from Kom and their host communities in Bamenda through sports and indigenous games

The summer holidays is usually characterized by the outflux of many people from the villages to the urban towns of Bamenda, Yaounde, Bafoussam and Douala. This has been a survey conducted in the past where the Kom people residing in Douala and Yaounde have always use football as that unifying element to bring it’s people together. Football remains one of the most important tool used by different communities to assembled it’s children to communicate to them.

The northwest region of Cameroon has been into a conflict for the past 5 years plus leading to the displacements of population like the kom population to be settled in Bamenda their host community made of diverse tribes. This melting pot of different tribes has always been very difficult to manage due to the differences in culture and  perception. This could be a source of discord to many like some.rising tensions noticed with the nkwen and the Nso people, the francophones and the anglophones, the military and civilians, teachers and the non state actors. There is a general rising suspicious behavior among the population who sees someone not being of the same tribe like his as a threat. This explain why anyea foundation partner with this project to bring out the connectors , similarities, the beauty in diversity in culture especially with people having a common fate. Through this project, we hope to showcase our similarities through traditional display, indigenous games and the spirit of tolerance, forgiveness , fair play, team spirit and living together as one another within the host communities. Not only as a partner to the BADU Football and Cultural festival, anyea has also preach by example by affiliating a team to the festival and shall be launching the festival on Sunday 24/07/2022 in Futru field against the Icons FC of Anjin.
